DESCRIPTION:Moneyball Rules \nThe Gist (short version): \n18 holes\, Teams of 4\, 2 scores count on each hole – 1) the low net score in the group and 2) the net score of the player playing the yellow “moneyball”. \nThe Details (like\, the actual rules): \nIn this event\, teams (of 4 players) record two scores per hole. Score #1 is the lowest net score from all four players. However\, and here’s the twist\, Score #2 will be the score recorded by the player playing the “moneyball” (This will be a yellow ball given to your team on the day of the tournament). \nThe “Moneyball” player rotates through your team as the names appear on the scorecard – on the first hole\, the player on the top of the scorecard plays the yellow “moneyball”\, on the second hole\, the second player\, and so on until everyone has had their turn and the rotation begins again. \nPoint of emphasis: The score carded by the player playing the “moneyball” counts towards the team score\, regardless of how they perform. And\, if the player playing the “moneyball” is also the lowest net score in the group\, you will record the second-best net score as your other score. \nOn the day of the tournament\, you will receive a sleeve of three yellow “moneyballs”. You will receive a one-stroke bonus for each ball you return at the end of your round. If you lose all three “moneyballs”\, your team is eliminated (!). \nThe cost of the tournament is $10 per player (plus cart fee)\, with prize money for first and second place (prizes will depend on number of participating teams). \nSignups will be “first come first served” with a limit of 12 teams.

SUMMARY:Match Play Seeding Round Window
DESCRIPTION:Season Long Match Play Tournament – how it works. \n\nSign up with Gerald in the pro shop. (That will give us a list of entrants)\nPlay a “seeding” round any time between April 1st and April 30th. Simply let Gerald know you are playing your seeding round for the Match Play tournament\, and he will give you an official scorecard.\n\nYou must declare this before the round\, otherwise it will not count\n\n\nOnce seeding rounds have been played\, we will create a bracket and post it on the board outside TCC. (For example if we have 32 players\, they will be seeded 1-32\, where 1 plays 32\, 2 plays 31 and so on).\nOnce the bracket has been established\, players are responsible for scheduling their own matches – we will play one round per month. For example\, the first round matches will be played in May\, second round in June\, third in July etc.\n\nPlayers are responsible for scheduling their own matches within the allotted month. Gerald will provide official scorecards for matches – simply let him know you are playing a match.\nThis is a net event.\nThis is a knockout tournament.\n\n\nWe will have a special event for the grand finale\, where spectators will be invited to watch and support the last golfers standing.\n\nMatch Play Format Explained \nA round in match play golf will see two golfers competing head to head against each other and not against the rest of the field. Rather than trying to post the lowest score for the round golfers are here trying to win (or not lose) more holes than their opponent. \nEach golfer hits his own ball throughout the round and after each hole\, scores of both golfers for the hole are compared. The golfer with the lowest score is said to have won that hole. If both scores are identical then no points (or holes won) are awarded for that hole. \nA winner is declared during the round when his lead is such that his opponent can no longer close the gap mathematically. Or in other words\, a winner is declared when his opponent can no longer tie or win the match even if he were to win all of the remaining holes. \nAt the start of the round\, golfers declare their own handicaps and the difference between those is calculated (Gerald does all this for us! 😊). The golfer with the highest handicap will be awarded an extra stroke on as many holes as that calculated difference number. \nFor example\, player A declares a handicap of 5 and player B declares a 10\, for a difference of 5 (10 – 5 = 5). Player B will thus be given a free stroke on holes with difficulty ratings of 1 through 5. If player B were to need 5 strokes for the most difficult hole and player A to need 4 strokes on that same hole\, the hole would be halved instead of seeing player B losing that hole thanks to his free stroke.
